1 Year Ago Yesterday

Yesterday, was definitely a bittersweet day for me. It was officially the one-year mark of Greg's passing from the horrific disease: ALS also known as Lou Gherig's disease. I do miss him everyday, and everyone called and texted with thoughts and prayers, but I felt somewhat at peace yesterday. I didn't mourn as much as I thought I would...same with my mom. Mainly, because I do feel something for him every single day. I didn't just bottle up my feelings at feel it all yesterday. But my mom and I spent the day together and went to lunch at Citrus Grill, then his grave. It was supposed to be bad weather, but it was beautiful when we went to the graveyard. Then again, it poured late last night, but I love falling asleep to rain.
But something exciting did happen yesterday, there is a television show in Utah called The Daily Dish, and my step-mom Kim was on it yesterday talking about Accessorizing Your Home! And guess who joined her at the ABC Channel 4 News Station - The CW 30?? Um yup, little ole' me! It was so awesome to see everything behind the scenes!! I got to sit in the audience, talk to the hosts and guests and just take pictures. So fun!
Check out that link! It shows her video segment and states what she does :) Felt like celebrities. Here are the pictures from being at the studio.
So very awesome!! It was cool to, because the cute host Breanne's family was there and she not only announced she was pregnant, but it was a girl!! So they did a whole segment on that. It was so fun.

Kim did talk about the Pink Party she's having next Saturday, May 5th. 10% of proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure." So if you live in Utah, stop by the Ins and Outs Cottage and get accessories for your house, or the Lily and Laura Bracelets! I love those bracelets btw, I have 10 now :)
I'm excited for this weekend! It's my favorite twins birthday BBQ tomorrow, so I've been looking at recipes trying to decide what kind of cookies I want to make. But I think it will involve Cake Batter Cookies/Funfetti Cookies. I couldn't stop looking at what I've "pinned" on my Pinterest under Sweet Tooth.

I definitely want to start cooking different recipes weekly! I've decided I need to get better at cooking, not that I'm bad at it, I just don't do it often. Might want to change that before I get married someday ;)

Sunday I'm going on a hike again with Will's awesome dogs Shane and Lucy, and then a Bees Baseball game double date! Cannot wait to eat a hot dog haha...especially at the ballpark.

It's exciting, on a final note, today I'm turning in EVERYTHING to Westminster College to apply for the Montessori Certification Program and to obtain my Master of Education Degree!! Ah. So nerve-racking, but I think the odds are in my favor to be honest. I just have so many good feelings when it comes to this. And yesterday I got my last recommendation and it was a teacher that I did student teaching with. So that's great :)

Anyways, HAPPY FRIDAY! I hope you all have such a wonderful weekend. xo.

Totally Tuesday

Another Tuesday is here to say hello...and let me tell you, it's a HOT one here in SLC Utah today! It's so amusing to me how "bi-polar" the weather in this state truly is. One day you have snow, then spring weather, now summer weather, in a few days were back down to the 60's with rain everyday. Hmmm..peculiar.

Oh well.

I haven't written since last week! YIKES. Sorry! Somedays, or better yet, some weeks are busier than others. Last week was one of them. Actually this week is becoming busy as well. Applying for Grad School at Westminster has definitely become a process. But I'm well on my way :) Just trying to hurry so I get a spot! Ahhh (stressful).

And while I'm on it, here is the daily dose of Instagram pictures:
Tulips :) The rain paid off!!
Last weekend was a really good one! I unfortunately didn't get to the Bees baseball game, but this weekend I'm going on a double date, so that'll be great! But Saturday made up for it! It was the best day I've had in a long, long time. Will and I went to Ruth's Diner up in the canyons and saw two of our friends up there...so we sat with them and had a great brunch. Then we decided to go on a hike up Mill Creek Canyon with Will's two adorable dogs! So much fun and such great weather. Then we went and got fro-yo at Menchies (delicious). This instagram sums that up:
Here are the real mobile pictures I took:
My bf is a dork :)
Stud.
mmmm!
After that we both went home for a bit, and then I got ready and went to Chilis with my girl Jenna! We got some margaritas, chips & queso, and talked forever. It was such a great time and I've really missed our one-on-one friend time! Sometimes we get so busy in our everyday lives, that we forget about people..that's not okay. So I'm working on that! Then we went to celebrate our friend Christian's birthday, and then Jenna and I went to the Pie Pizzeria at 2 am for some cheesy pull-aparts (I wasn't exactly healthy this Saturday).

Sunday was fun too though, went to Titanic finally with my girls! Soooo long, but so good. Have to admit, I was hoping that there would be a different ending. They should've done this:
Just sayin'
I was scared though this weekend; my cat Lucky who is 15 years old, wasn't acting okay. He wouldn't move really, wouldn't eat, and wouldn't drink water. It was Sunday so the vet was closed, and we thought he ate something outside that didn't agree with him. But after 3 days, he still wasn't acting okay. Today luckily he is, not 100%, but better. I have to remind myself he's getting really old...but it still scares me. I don't want to lose him. Especially this week. This Thursday will be one year that my step-father Greg passed away. It's going to be a really hard day, and that would make it even harder. But death is something we need to accept. I'm still learning though.

Anyways, I laid outside to write a Grad Essay, and I apparently got fried. Lovely. That's what happens when you look like a ghost and sit outside for a long time, without sunscreen. CRAP. The sun is definitely a lot stronger than it used to be. Won't be making that mistake again. But I'm excited to go to Blue Lemon with Will tonight, watch what's left of the Jazz game, and then watch We Bought A Zoo - which I've been dying to see!

Hopefully your Tuesday is going splendidly.

The Daily D

Well, welcome to another Daily D (Daily Development). Haven't done one of these in some time! But I like to do it when something great happens in the day, or when something is stirring in my mind ;)
Today was a really exciting morning for me. I went to observe in a real Montessori, and not just any Montessori, the best in the state of Utah for 3 years in a row now!
I've interviewed with them, but it was such an honor to observe a classroom and how the teachers teach for a couple hours. Plus I got to talk with the director, and the owner who is so nice and she actually is a professor at Westminster College (where I'm going to be trained).

It really opened my eyes today and it was wonderful to see how different it is than a public school. These four year olds were so advanced, that they completely pass other preschoolers I've seen. I can only imagine how wonderful and advanced the kindergarteners are (my favorite)! Everything was so hands on and so interesting to see how they approach activities, and skills to grow. Some students showed me how they used beads to count in groups of tens. I can only wish that I had that growing up. I think it really would've proved useful.

I just really felt as though I fit in, not only at this school, but this type of teaching method. I've always thought outside the box, and I don't want to fit the norm. I want to expand and have my children really think and use their own knowledge to help them through the natural learning cycle. So now more than ever, do I think I made the right decision. I just cannot wait to begin my Montessori training this summer!!

Meeting with the admissions director and Dean of Education at Westminster last week, really helped me on this journey. I also decided to get my Master's of Education when I'm there. Yes, it will take a year, but to me...it's worth it. It's a Master's Degree. That's such an accomplishment, and I'd love to someday teach other students in my position, the Montessori/teaching way!

So on Monday, my boyfriend and I had our official 4 month anniversary (I love celebrating monthly), and have been dating for 5 months, and friends for 5 years! Something to celebrate! But we went to the new City Creek Mall downtown SLC, Utah. We went to Cheesecake Factory and it was delicious. I liked City Creek, Will didn't. He said that it was the same stores as the other malls...and he expected more for the amount of money they put in. I agree and disagree with him, respectively. I agree they could've put in new stores, spiced it up a bit. But I love the architecture of this mall. I think it's beautiful and will make tourists excited to visit this state even more (besides skiing).
Loved this fountain!
My dad's birthday was yesterday, and we ate BBQ and it was delicious! But I'm ready for Zumba tonight! I've been working out so hard, but my eating habits as of late, haven't been as good! Need to get back in my healthy habit! We have bathing suit season coming up!! This weekend will be great though; warm, warm weather! Probably going to a Bees baseball game, and hikes, BBQ at park, etc. Very excited!!

Final note, I've realized these last few weeks, and maybe that's what this whole "Daily D" is about, is that you have got to be who you are and you've got to do what you were made to do. Your purpose in life, as Hugo talked about. So who are you?
I'm a Creator.

I like to make stuff, think outside the box, write, invent, use colors, turn something boring into something amazing, make board games, and other games, etc. I use what is in my mind, and make it into reality. That's who I am. So let me ask you again, who are you? This song is actually one of my favorites (I've Gotta Be Me - Ryan Tedder), and I love this Dr. Pepper commercial:
Be unique. Stand out!
ALWAYS ONE OF A KIND

Have a wonderful Wednesday my friends!

Snap A Picture, Save the Memory

What. A. Weekend.

No joke, it was a busy one. Actually, all of last week was a busy one!! But I loved it. I took a lot of pictures over the course of the few days....so maybe instead of just writing in this post, I'll show you my weekend.

But I'll go over it slightly:
  • Brother's 19th Birthday
  • Greek Easter
Only two things, you ask? Oh boy. These two things consumed this weekend!!! I didn't even go to the church service Saturday night because I was already so exhausted. But here we go:

Such a wonderful couple of days. It's so wonderful having family around. It was hard without Greg...our first Easter and Greek Easter without him, but he was definitely with us in spirit.

Now here are some Instagram pictures I took:
Actually Emma, Landon's gf, took this one. But I thought it was cute :)

And today, it's officially mine and Will's 4 month anniversary! We've been dating for 5, but yea, officially 4! I've had such a wonderful time with him. It keeps getting better and better.
I'm excited to go to City Creek and Cheesecake Factory with him tonight :) Look how cute he is. He took this at the Santa Barbara wedding (cousin's wedding):
So adorable :)
After all this food the past weekend...and this week, I really need to workout hard! YIKES.

Anyways, Happy Monday!! I hope you all start the week just right. I know I will. It's a beautiful day! FINALLY, some good weather. Better stay that way. xo
